The Legacy of ABBA - Vol.2 features Stany’s unique interviews and meetings with the ABBA members, as well as talks with some of their closest collaborators (Anders Hanser, Lasse Hallström,...).
Stany Van Wymeersch is the author of two successful books about ABBA. Let’s Talk About ABBA is the fruit of a collaboration with ABBA’s art director Rune Söderqvist (the book’s artistic adviser). It tells the ABBA story through gripping interviews with their inner circle. We All Love ABBA focuses on ABBA’s influence on a wide range of artists, from punk (Sex Pistols) to classic (European Philharmonia) via pop (Pete Waterman) and rock (Suzi Quatro). Stany was a consultant on the official ABBA: Super Troupers exhibition at The O2 in London (UK). He also sat on the international jury of professionals that presents the Eurostory Best Lyrics Award for the most astounding lyrics at the Eurovision Song Contest. He graduated from Ghent University as a Master of Laws and has worked as a legal adviser and communications specialist.
The Legacy of ABBA concludes the inspiring book series on the Swedish supergroup by Stany Van Wymeersch. In this second volume, an array of international stars – among others, Tony Hadley (Spandau Ballet), Kiki Dee, Kim Wilde and Paul Young – shed their light on the supergroup’s legacy in surprising and insightful ways. Stany also turns his spotlight on Hollywood and cinema, with interviews of several cast members from the Mamma Mia! films as well as directors Stephan Elliott (Priscilla, Queen of the Desert), Lasse Hallström (ABBA: The Movie) and Richard Curtis, who was one of the story writers of Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again. The link between ABBA and the iconic 1980s soap opera Dallas is revealed in an interview with one of its stars, Audrey Landers. Last but not least, the book showcases the talent of such great photographers as Anders Hanser, Larsåke Thuresson, Bubi Heilemann and Marcel Van Landeghem, including interviews with them. Several photos are here published for the very first time.
