The Legacy of ABBA concludes the inspiring book series on the Swedish supergroup by Stany Van Wymeersch. With a foreword by the esteemed theatre director and arts producer Jude Kelly CBE, this first volume features Stany’s unique interviews with ABBA members Björn Ulvaeus, Benny Andersson and Anni-Frid Lyngstad, as well as talks with some of their closest collaborators. The new ABBA songs are also discussed. Aspects of the separate careers of Agnetha, Björn, Frida and Benny – a lesser known but important part of the legacy – are explored from a refreshing perspective. In a separate chapter, The Legacy of ABBA – Volume 1 devotes time to such established and successful artists as Dana Winner and Susie Webb, who have reinterpreted some of ABBA’s best-loved songs. Finally, the book is a showcase for the talent of such great photographers as Govert de Roos, Alberto Tolot, Gered Mankowitz and Anders Hanser. A comprehensive timeline from ABBA’s early beginnings until today is also included in this volume.

Biografie

Stany Van Wymeersch is the author of two successful books about ABBA. Let’s Talk About ABBA is the fruit of a collaboration with ABBA’s art director Rune Söderqvist (the book’s artistic adviser). It tells the ABBA story through gripping interviews with their inner circle. We All Love ABBA focuses on ABBA’s influence on a wide range of artists, from punk (Sex Pistols) to classic (European Philharmonia) via pop (Pete Waterman) and rock (Suzi Quatro). Stany was a consultant on the official ABBA: Super Troupers exhibition at The O2 in London (UK). He also sat on the international jury of professionals that presents the Eurostory Best Lyrics Award for the most astounding lyrics at the Eurovision Song Contest. He graduated from Ghent University as a Master of Laws and has worked as a legal adviser and communications specialist.
