"De Conducteur" is a musical setting of the poem of the same name by Nicolaas Beets (Hildebrand). Duration: approx. 8:25 min. Written for choir (SATB), the work chronicles the life and travels of a 19th-century Dutch conductor on his daily coach route from Amsterdam to Leiden, slowly falling in love along the way. "Fire & Ice" is a musical setting of the poem of the same name by Robert Frost. Duration: approx. 1:20 min. A work for coro piccolo (SATB) with celestial tendencies, featuring detached mezzo-soprano and bass soloists debating the inevitable ending of the world.

Biografie

Jeroen van Luiken-Bakker was born in IJmuiden (1981), the Netherlands, and was further raised in Heemskerk. As a young child he took, then, mandatory recorder lessons and later (electronic) keyboard lessons at the local Heemskerk School of Music. In 2001 Jeroen was diagnosed with dyslexia and in 2008 with Autism. Some of his double bass pieces have been performed by a group of bassists under direction of David Heyes and his piano piece ‘Un petit mystique pour piano’ was futured in the movie ‘The Voice that was Louder than Before’ by director Suzanne Steinberg. In december 2025 Lea Tuuri recorded 6 miniatures for solo violin. Jeroen, is besides being an aspiring composer, a poet, writer, translator, and publisher.
